Eleven Pillars of Motherhood
You might be a Mom if:
11) You are beyond tired right at this moment.
10) You’ve sat down at dinner and wondered why you were so hungry...only to realize that you never had a minute to eat lunch (But for the record, your children were all fed).
9) A close friend (who-incidentally-is not a Mom), has threatened to nominate you for, “What’s Not to Wear.”
8) You’ve had a moment where the car has been too quiet and you’ve (in a panic) checked to see that you haven’t forgotten the baby...only to remember that the kids are home with the sitter and you are FREE!
7) You have one of three random things in your pocket at any given time; a goldfish cracker(or the crumbs of what USED to be a goldfish cracker), a balled up Kleenex (and you are unsure if it is clean or used; however will not hesitate to use it if necessary), or chocolate (dual purposed: for you in a time of critical need, or simply a “potty treat.”)
6) You usually cry once a day. If not at some random commercial, some wonderful thing your child says or does, or the thought of them growing up too fast, then you probably at least shed a few tears when your 2 year old decided to empty the contents of the shampoo bottle into your favourite pair of shoes.
5) You’ve ever said the words, “I’m counting to ten!” Or five. Or, if you’re especially ruthless, three.
4) Instead of shaking your head in disgust, you look sympathetically upon the Mom 2 aisles down in the grocery store who is currently in the midst of “The Tantrum,” knowing that, if you haven’t already “been there,” your day is likely coming...and can only hope for sympathetic looks rather ones that say, “please control your children in public.”
3) You have an uncontrollable urge to wipe the crumbs off of the mouth of the person sitting across from you at adult dinner parties.
2) You look upon, in envy, women who get to carry cute, little purses, rather than the portable drug store you call a diaper bag.
1) You have ever looked in the mirror before going to bed and wondered if you really looked like that all day, especially when you were out running errands. And you suddenly make sense of all the funny looks you were getting...but happily realize that what you see is a great Mom who OBVIOUSLY puts her family first! And for this season in life...that’s just fine with you.
