Restoration
It's usually after one of those days-dare I say weeks- that confirmed once again you will not be winning any mythical Mother-of-the-Year awards. One of those knock out drag down days where you mistakenly picked too many battles, gritted too many teeth, gave in to selfish anger just too many times.
It's usually after one of those days that you hauled three quarters of your tribe to the big box store that specializes in long line ups and slow cashiers and finally, after keeping said tribe reasonably calm through said line up you reach into your purse only to find, oh no please do not be true, your wallet stayed at home in the library bag. So you abandon the gallons of milk and storm out of the store in tears blaming your children for what you know deep down to be your own doing. One of those days the baby cries all the way home, her chubby fists signing milk, milk for all she's worth, and you wonder when just when did you start losing your mind and how pray tell are you going to get it back.
It's usually after that day that you spent the minutes before bedtime acknowledging your sin to your own children, asking for forgiveness and hugging with all your might.
It's usually then after one of those days has been punctuated by a night's rest that your alarm wakes you and a song greets you with words like:
And it's usually then that you breathe your own words...words that go something like
It's usually then that you open your Bible and more words come, not yours but His, words like:
It is right about then as you unload the dishwasher and jam another load into the washing machine that you realize no one is screaming and all the beds were already made by little hands and you come around the corner to see this vision of peace:

It's usually then that you take a deep breath and watch everything- everything- become oh so clear.
Your God, the one who goes before and stands behind and loves you with an everlasting love, that God is in the business of
RESTORATION.
And maybe, just maybe, simply
by putting one foot in front of the other...
You can do this.

I know who goes before me, I know who stands behind, the God of Angel Armies is always by my side...

"I need you, oh I need you, oh how badly I need you to get through another day. Please. Just please. Do that thing in me where it's more you and less me because I have seen firsthand what a tragic mess man can make of life when left entirely to his own wills and strength..."
It's usually then that you open your Bible and more words come, not yours but His, words like:
"I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt O Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful..."
