True Story
A certain potty training mother happens to be in the local “big box” building supply store, when her “nearly 2 year old” announces loudly that she has to use the facilities(you can imagine she did not state it quite so demurely). So the mother (who wishes to remain anonymous) snatches up her child and begins to run in the direction she HOPES will lead her to a public washroom. Thankfully all parties arrive on time and without incident and the said “nearly 2 year old” proceeds to do her business with her mother quietly cheering her on inside the crowded stall, cognizant of the fact that they are no longer alone in the washroom.
After the cheering and applause dies out, the mother realizes that she too needs to “use the facilities,” much to the delight of the “nearly 2 year old” who then stands by, offering her own encouragement to her beloved mom; yelling and clapping ecstatically. “YAY!! Good Girl Mommy! You did it!! Wipe Mommy!! Flush it DOWN Mommy!! GO WASH YOUR HANDS!!”
By this point, the mother is giggling so hard she cannot see through the tears running down her cheeks, but has realized that no matter how embarrassing this situation may seem, she cannot hide out in this stall forever. So...she attempts to pull it together and exits with her child in tow, grinning somewhat sheepishly at her fellow washroom patron. “Sorry,” the mother manages to squeak out, “we’re potty training...sometimes we get a little excited.” The kind woman at the sink looks upon the “nearly 2 year old,” and replies with a laugh, “Oh, I’m a mother of two teenagers...believe me, I’ve been there!”
And with that, she walks out...still chuckling...leaving the mother and her young protégé once again alone amongst the hallowed walls of a bathroom where many mothers have surely gone before. True story.
