Today
It was one of those days.
The kind I often neglect to write about...
One of those days that you manage to wake up easily before the alarm sounds and get the workout and Word In before the sounds of little feet hit the stairs.
The kind of day when you get to sing all your favourite songs at church and breath deeply Truth taught and Presence felt, and by the time you walk out those doors you've felt loved and LOVED and yes, you know it's good to be in the presence of God's people. And as you get in the car your son says, "That went by too fast!" and your smile is big and genuine when those kids in the back seats ask you to roll down the windows and turn up the music, because yes indeed, Oh...what a glorious day, what a glorious way, that you have saved me!
It was the kind of day that everybody gets along: big brothers help little sisters with lego projects and big sisters let little sisters jump first on the trampoline and hands are open, not clenched and helping not hurting and your smile gets bigger when you hear from the other room those sweet words of encouragement - given freely between siblings - with not a parent in sight, nor promise of reward on the horizon.
One of those days that you feel God's love through that warm sunshine and the birds seem to be singing a song straight off the pen of David and yes, you are still smiling when it's bath time and somehow you stay dry and so does most of the floor.
A day when you do your family prayer time spiel and hearts open, and there's more than just a laundry list of needs and wants and now your heart is singing along with, because yes my sweet girl, He is powerful and you are right to tell Him so.
It's the kind of day where not everything gets done that maybe should have...the laundry baskets sit overflowing as Monday looms, but the floors are mopped and somehow you manage to wipe down one bathroom in between filling water balloons and judging routines on the trampoline.
One of those days that you find yourself falling into bed, and holding your breath while thinking about tomorrow...knowing the Gospel truth says you'll probably fall right back flat on your face, but choosing instead to revel in the common grace of a Sunday that says He won't leave you there.
Oh there'll be more of those other days, guaranteed. There always are.
But for now it's the kind of day where you need to just stop and enjoy it. And let your smile lift your heart strings as you remember and celebrate that yes, you might not write about it often enough, but you do indeed have those kind of days.
